Ford Recalls Nearly 274,000 Expeditions and Lincolns Due to Brake Line Safety Issue

Prime Highlights:

  • Ford is recalling 273,789 SUVs and trucks, including the 2022–2024 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators, due to a brake line defect.
  • The issue can cause brake fluid leaks that reduce stopping power and increase the likelihood of a crash.

Key Facts:

  • The front brake lines may contact the engine air cleaner outlet pipe, which can cause damage and fluid loss.
  • The symptoms are excessive brake pedal travel and a red brake warning light.
  • Ford dealerships will repair and replace at no charge damaged parts to owners.

Key Background :

Ford Motor Company has recalled nearly 274,000 cars in a large recall for part of the 2022 through 2024 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The recall is due to a safety concern involving the front brake lines. In the cars, the brake hoses may come into contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe. This frays the brake hoses and therefore causes brake fluid leakage.

Brake fluid is important in helping the brake system of a vehicle function at its best. Without fluid, it will cause a loss of hydraulic pressure, which considerably reduces the functioning of the brake. Any of its signs can include an increase in the travel of the brake pedal before when the brakes begin to bite, and also flashing red warning lights on the dashboard. These indications imply a loss of braking power, and this is a critically dangerous safety hazard and may lead to an increased risk of collision.

Ford is currently notifying owners of the affected vehicles in letters of notification, inviting them to have their cars inspected at Ford dealers. The company has pledged to replace any faulty parts free of charge in a bid to ensure drivers’ safety and comply with safety measures.

This is a sequel to previous Ford recalls for safety, such as previous brake fluid leaks recalls on other cars. Moreover, Ford has recently been slammed for slow responses to safety flaws. The facts indeed speak for themselves concerning being on time with inspections and maintenance to uphold vehicle safety standards.

The vehicle owners are asked to do so at their earliest in recall notices and arrange inspection to avoid any risk caused by the brake system. Brake parts need to be in good condition and functioning properly to allow the smooth movement of these heavy SUVs.
